About Me
Hi, I’m Tom, and I can offer a warm presence and a judgment-free and understanding environment in which any problem can be worked on collaboratively. I primarily see clients face-to-face within Leeds city centre, with online sessions also available.
I’m an integrative psychotherapist and I work with adults of all ages (18+).
My working days are Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays.
I know how difficult it can feel when trying to choose a therapist, wondering who can actually help. It can feel confusing to know what you really need, but for me, it felt important to find someone who I could trust and feel accepted by.
I offer a confidential environment where you can bring any problem. Everything can go at your pace, and in a way that helps you feel safe and taken seriously. The process of therapy is different for everyone, but my overall aim is to allow you to explore what is happening and navigate a way forward with greater understanding and empowerment.
My Practice
As an integrative therapist I am trained to use a variety of therapeutic approaches to help meet your individual needs. This means the nature of the sessions is tailored to each client, but throughout all of my work I have a humanistic and relational focus.
This puts you in control, as I believe you are the expert of yourself and my role is to aid your awareness and autonomy. It is also my belief that a strong client-therapist relationship is the most important aspect of therapy, and through our relationship you can be supported to have greater understanding about dynamics that play out within yourself and also with friends and family.
I have experience working therapeutically with individuals of a wide variety of ages and backgrounds. Prior to becoming a psychotherapist I had two years’ experience at the suicide prevention charity Samaritans, befriending the terminally ill through Sue Ryder Wheatfields Hospice, and helping rehabilitate convicted individuals through Re:shape (Re: Sexual Harm Awareness, Prevention & Education).
I think it is important for therapy to be accessible and open to all, regardless of gender, sexuality and race, as no one is spared from facing difficulty in their lives. To help therapy be more accessible I make 20% of my slots available with concession rates to students and individuals receiving Universal Credit.

Testimonials
"Following the loss of a loved one to suicide, I had found myself feeling isolated, full of feelings of self-loathing and guilt, and unable to engage fully with friends or family. Regular sessions with Tom provided a very safe space to unpick the trauma, and better understand what had happened, and why I was reacting the way that I was. Over time, Tom helped me to equip myself with the tools to understand and cope with triggers, and to give myself permission to move forwards. Having been somewhat skeptical of reaching out for help initially, the consistent empathy, humour and structured approach has been invaluable. Tom also has a real talent for phrasing things in a way that sticks in the brain, which proved incredibly helpful to me when dealing with entrenched negative self-talk. I can't recommend Tom highly enough."

"Working with Tom over the last couple of years has been an incredibly valuable experience. I have felt safe and supported to explore distressing aspects of my life, and with Tom’s guidance I have been able to shift away from a highly self-critical relationship with myself and start engaging with the world with deeper understanding, acceptance and emotional confidence."

"Working with Tom has been truly life-changing for me. Through his compassionate guidance and deep understanding, he helped me regain control over my life and navigate the overwhelming grip of my anxiety and health anxiety. Tom provided me with the clarity I needed to understand the root causes of my anxiety, allowing me to feel free again and begin to move ahead with my life again. His support gave me the tools to not only manage my anxiety but also to approach life with a renewed sense of confidence and peace. I’m incredibly grateful for the positive impact he’s had on my journey."

"When I came to therapy I didn't know what I wanted or why I felt the way I did. Tom helped me to navigate those feelings in a way and at a pace that felt natural to me and allowed me to get a much better grasp on why and how certain feelings and thoughts kept reappearing. I now have a far greater understanding of myself and am incredibly grateful to Tom for the work we did together."

"Tom is a gifted and empathetic therapist who I saw regularly for some time. Through Tom’s guidance, I have been able to gain invaluable perspective on personal (sometimes challenging) experiences which, in turn, has improved my quality and enjoyment of life. I would highly recommend Tom to anyone looking for an understanding, judgement-free space to deal with and better understand their own personal challenges and life experiences."
"I found Tom to be a very supportive and helpful influence during and after our time working together. His insights and guidance were often points of view I don't think I would have come to alone. I felt understood in our sessions and our conversations were always balanced and fair. Tom was reliably kind and respectful, I never doubted my trust in his professionalism."
"Working with Tom was a really fulfilling therapy experience. No problem was too big or too small and he has always been such a friendly face at every session. I felt listened to and understood and I'm incredibly grateful for his support."
"I was a client of Tom for 7 months, attending over 20 sessions. I had recently retired from a highly successful corporate career but had struggled for a number of years with anxiety and depression. The issues relating to these conditions were compounded by a bad accident which left me somewhat immobile for a period of time. I constantly listened to media promoting 'It’s good to talk' but in hindsight I realise that it is good to talk to somebody who knows the subject or has personally experienced the issues rather than well meaning unqualified experts of which you will find many! When I first started my sessions with Tom I wanted to know why I was how I was and what was the root cause of my issues. Tom approached my challenges in a very professional and structured manner and managed to unpick many of the questions I had been struggling with. He is an excellent listener and managed to break down my natural defences of not talking and avoiding really important issues and circumstances. Thanks to Tom’s interventions I find myself in a much better place. Would fully recommend Tom as a therapist especially if you, like me, keep things bottled up and avoid confronting the issues that are so important."
